Outfit Architecture: What to Wear to the Theatre Bizarre Documentary Party
July 7, 2011

I attended a party at The Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan to celebrate the trailer release of the documentary about a local cultural phenomenon, Theatre Bizarre, as well as kick off the fund-raising efforts to fund film distribution of the movie.

One of my best friends, Sarah/Sillygrrl performed in the showcase with her aerial circus troupe, The Weird Sisters. Of course, I had to support my girl. Plus, the three women can effing FLY.

More on The Weird Sisters and Theatre Bizarre tomorrow. It’ll make you pee your pants.

Here’s what I wore. I likened it to a high class hooker outfit, while my husband dressed like a Yuppie from Cambridge (ie., plaid button down, pressed khaki shorts, and khaki, natural canvas Toms shoes).

When you go to the Circus, you gotta dress the part. Honestly… my husband and I were probably the most normally dressed there, amongst skanky fauns, Housewives from Hell, Hell fairies, industrial club kids and zombies. A 10 foot faun walked around the venue, towering above everyone, and banging on bongo drums to the beat of The Weird Sister’s accompaniment tracks. Only at a place like this is dressing for the occasion is art as much as that being exhibited on stage.

WATCH OUT FOR TOMORROW’S ARTICLE ABOUT the Theatre and the WEIRD SISTERS!

RE: GIVEAWAY— YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, I know! I need to get off my lazy ass and actually figure out who won the giveaway prizes… I will get there, but I’ve got TONS of entries to go through. I’ll keep you posted. Hopefully by this weekend?
