Forgive this moment of temporary insanity while I moan for a bit. I’m just having a “minute”. It’ll be over soon, I promise.
Apparently the robots go away when Mae goes away to play and have a real life. I’m sorry if I don’t take you along for the ride this time, I was away for slightly personal reasons, and I couldn’t post every single day. Eventually I will post photos of my little detour. I was only gone for 4 days. But I expected you guys to be a bit more faithful than that.
I guess that’s how it is when you transition from a personal blog with style elements to a style blog with only few personal elements. Your traffic fluctuates like PMS. But this is bi-polar, people.
Sometimes, I feel as if I’m one tiny island of a small archipelago of actual writers in a sea of photo-only style bloggers–a vast yet desolate sea of beautifully caught, artfully orchestrated photos. Don’t get me wrong, I love those photos and the talented bloggers behind them, and I find them immensely inspiring, muse-worthy, even. Not to be ignored, even the less arty outfit shots are still framed with much effort and panache that I do not possess in self-photography. There are bloggers who do focus their attention to content and thoughtful copy, rather than solely post lovely pictures, but we are so few and far between, in comparison with the majority. It feels alienating at times, because it seems as if lots of readership of most blogs out there (not just mine) care more about what someone else is wearing, rather than the content of the post in correlation to the images posted. (Note, I don’t feel that this is EVERY style blogger or every reader, but you do have to admit that content is emphasized less in the fashion blogosphere, taking a backseat to well-captured snaps.)
While I love fashion, beauty, eco design and all things style, I consider myself first and foremost a writer. Hell, I graduated with a Bachelor degree in English, Creative Writing, it’s got to go somewhere! I don’t do this for a living, but I do enjoy it. It gives me something to be passionate about, and share that passion with others.
So you know what? It is nice to know if people give a crap about what you post about from time to time. Is this site worth reading? Am I offering useful information? Is this what you want to see? Do I write about what matters? Sometimes, it’s nice to feel the love, if you get what I mean. While 90% of this blog is for me, I still generate content that I think people should/maybe want to read. Something worthy of perusal and discussion.
If you feel like talking back and discussing, I welcome it. In fact, I WANT you to speak up. It tells me if I’m doing something right and if I’m doing something wrong.
Will the lurkers please stand up? Give a girl a little bit of love!
Speaking of hosting giveaways, though… I’m hosting a gift card giveaway to my sponsor, makeup/beauty/hair care/skin care retailer Apothica and it’s sister site SkincareRx.com. The giveaway ends February 8. Go enter now! And tell your friends.
