Eleven months ago, there was a tweet. Then a slew of tweets. Then there was an email, followed by a slew of emails. And then there was a blogger meetup. Seven girls, seven wildly different backgrounds, ethnicities, attitudes, fashion sensibilities. Add to the mix, fabulous, tasty Detroit Cuisine from Majestic Café and copious drinks, top of the night with bowling shenanigans, sprinkle with dancing, pepper with swearing, and a generous dash of mirth.
The result: a group of girls that feels like a life-long clan of friends.
… Eleven month’s later, there’s a tweet, followed by a slew of tweets, and consequently, many emails… And there is a meet up at the Fifth Annual Detroit Urban Craft Fair this last Saturday. It’s like Etsy, but on mushrooms. It’s brighter, it’s more real, it’s cuter (there are some HOTTIES in Detroit), it doesn’t charge tax or shipping, and you can drink while you browse and touch.
If you’re shopping with friends, shopping food and alcohol, Etsy is, like, the most rewarding experience. I highly recommend it, and I will definitely be going next year, provided husby and I still in Detroit at the time.
Sarah and I rocking out our awesome leggings.
On Her: Olsenboye boots, Forever 21 leopard tights & sweater dress, Mat & Nat Bag & Asos Jacket. On Me: Emami, Iceland convertible dress/top, The Peculiar Piece, Causeway Mall leather patchwork leggings, Steve Madden booties.
The lovely Lauryn, Jenni and Ria (my cousin-in-law).
I think it is quite clear that I am fully incapable of going anywhere, or doing anything, in which I am required to be/act/seem “normal”. And it if was not clear before, this photo is evidentiary support of my hypothesis. What is normal, anyway?
I’ve been blessed for a year with the life-changing presence of these six (and now 7, with Amanda, by extension through Mandy) amazing, talented, funny, beautiful women. I am so honored to call them my friends, and I can’t wait for many more years of shenanigans with them!
And on another note, Her Waise Choice is hosting a giveaway of H&M x Lanvin chandelier earrings. I’m very for it. I want them. So stay away. 😛
