I’ve jumped the bandwagon: I’ve joined the legions of women going “greige,” that is, painting my nails with a grey-beige lacquer, a kind of lavender-hued light grey tint with beige-y undertones. It’s been the rage since late summer, early autumn, and for some reason, my trend bandwagon-avoiding self decided the other day that, this shade might not be so repellent after all. And what do you know, it’s cheaper than all the cool eco polishes I’ve been dying to try.
Target’s selection of Sally Hansen polishes is really off the chain. There were over 60 colours staring at me in the face. With a such an extensive plethora of options, it’s easy to lose yourself in the beauty aisle for quite a bit. While other brand names enticed me, the colours were lacking in creativity. Bright peacock blue and metallic Turkish teal are my favourite colours in the world (also my wedding accent colour), but my mood as of late has been grey with a hint of optimism. Physically translated, grey with a hint of beige, fits that description to a T.
So I pulled Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Polish in Commander in Chic. It’s a darker greige that has hints of gunmetal grey, but more of a reddish undertone that kind of makes the greige look like a greyish lavender.
Take a look how “fabulousfashion” at PolishSwatches.com did a gold and greige animal print on her fingers. Awesome.
If you’re a fan of nude pinks and natural colours, greige can be a good way to get out of your beauty rut. What are some of your methods to getting out of a beauty rut?? I gotta know!
