I realize this post really should be put in winter or fall, but half the world is in cold weather right now, so I figured this could work at any time.
The conundrum about sweatpants is that while being insanely comfortable and perfect for lounging around the house, most of them are so hideously unflattering that it’s considered fashion faux paus to step foot outside one’s door wearing them unless on the way to the gym or the park for a run!
But! for those who seek comfort and fashion, there actually is a way to wear sweats in public.
Andy of Style Scrapbook demonstrates how.
Her description of the outfit:
I needed.. to just chill and relax, wear comfy outfits and [not] worry about makeup or styling…
…My super comfy outfit… nothing special at all, just pure comfort and of course, I left my house for a sec and I had to look a bit more descent so I threw my fav vintage blazer on.
Her secret to pulling off sweats in public without looking like a street urchin or a gym monkey? Shirt with low cut neck line in a sheer, tissue thin cotton. She kept her pants simple, but it still has the silhouette of a cute pair of trousers. It’s not super baggy or loose, and she steered clear of sweats that had any gathering and elastic closures at the leg opening. It’s a cropped, tight pant, so it still evokes the image of trousers or leggings or skinny jeans. It elongates her legs.
Instead of schloopy or chunky worn-in sneakers, she slung on heels on her feet, further elongating her lines. And instead of a baggy, hobo-looking sweatshirt, she put on a crisp vintage blazer in a vibrant colour. Paired with a stylish bag, she looks ready to hit the town, rather than run a quick errand to the corner grocer.
This is definitely an A+ way to rock sweatpants in public. I don’t think sweats have ever looked this good!
