E-Style You: What to Wear for Engagement Photos?

What do I wear for an engagement photo shoot? I’m a pretty casual girl, and I’ve got a big chest.

This is a good question. Let me try to e-style you. I can tell you what to wear, how to fix your problem areas and play up your best, and beautiful features so that you can feel appropriate, stylish, and most importantly, confident! When you’re confident, you have better posture, which naturally gives your ensemble a more polished, put-together edge.

How to Dress for large chest bra size

Things to keep in mind: My philosophy is that it is better to be faulted for being “over dressed” rather than under. But this is the tricky part; you don’t want to be so over-dressed that you’re uncomfortable, stiff and don’t feel like yourself! It’s a bit of a delicate balance. My rule of thumb is that you should be able to feel like you can move in it, but you still look put-together, tall, gorgeous and happy. So, keep it polished and simple with standout shoes and nice makeup.

I’ve seen casual engagement photo shoots, and I’ve seen creative, dressy photo shoots that looked like fashion magazines, and I’ve seen bizarre, quirky and over-the-top shoots. Dressing casual for a engagement shoot is touchy. I would advise against jeans unless you’re doing something very urban, rugged or rural. The reason is that you don’t want to look back on it and think, why didn’t I dress up a bit more? It is, after all, your engagement photos. That being said, though, if you feel most yourself and most comfy in jeans, and you’d feel absolutely stiff and unhappy in other clothes, that’s probably the choice you should make.

Summer Engagement Photos, Dressy

Engagement Photoshoot, jeans

If you’re going to go with jeans or casual slacks, here are some guidelines:

  • Keep it simple — no embellishments.
  • Keep it slim–boot cuts, flair styles don’t flatter most people, and trouser styles will be too hot for the summer.

Dress or Skirt:

  • A pencil skirt offers nice alternative to jeans or pants that you can dress up or dress down.
  • A dress is a good dressy casual option–with a V neckline to draw the eyes up, will minimize “the girls” and also dress the smallest part of your body: your gorgeous waistline.

Tops:

  • Button downs, Deep Vs and fitted tops are your friends.
  • Scoop necks and crew necks with a high neckline will make you look like a shelf.

Stay away from anything too voluminous which will add bulk to your frame!

Shoes:
Wedge heels are your friends. Easy to walk and romp in, but still sexy, flirtatious and slimming.

If you’re in doubt, remember to throw on a few accessories like earrings and bangles. They’re a quick way to add extra oomph to your ensemble without trying too hard.

Here are more options I made just for you: what to wear engagement photos, polyvore collection, girl with large breasts :)

Lastly, have fun and stand up straight! Nothing ruins pictures more than a sulky-bear who looks like she’s wilting! Good posture and a radiant smile makes any outfit — and any photo — worth a MILLION words!

{ Sundays are For… } #5: Styling and Rainbows

Sundays are for Style!

Went to the mall with Rialeilani, who asked me to assist in styling her makeover for a new career. Ria, very much a jeans, flip flops and hoodies kind of girl, had a bit of an idea what to wear, but felt very overwhelmed by all the options before her at the different stores in the mall. (The mall is whelming, period!) So I stepped in to help her make the crucial first steps into rebuilding her professional wardrobe, assisting her with my expertise so that she bought tasteful an stylish pieces that accentuated her shape, hid her not-so-favorite parts, and showcased her colorful personality.

It was so much fun.

I will have to post a before/after transformation as well as details of what I helped Ria buy. We’ve yet to schedule a shoe shopping session and a beauty session, and also go back to her house to style a whole range of outfits. But I’m so excited for Ri’s transformation, and new business venture! Our late 20s and early 30s are such an exciting time of change and metamorphosis, and I’m so grateful she allowed me to come along with her as witness & Stylist!

I later went to the lake, where my friend E cooked me dinner, then we sat outside, saw a gorgeous sunset over the rippling, crystalline waters and a brief rainbow as the light reflected off the soft, wispy clouds fading away in the distance.

All in all, a good day!

What was your Sunday For?

{ Architecture of an Outfit/OOTD/Digital Stylin’ } What I wore… To the Opera Theatre

Saturday, we finally bestowed upon my mother-in-law her Christmas gift, which was the present of dinner and a show of her choice. In this case her choice was to see a review concert of American composer extraordinaire and jazz/classical music legend, George Gershwin–a favorite of mine as well.

What do you wear to a place called The Michigan Opera Theatre, where they host Broadway shows such as Mary Poppins and Wicked? Whatever you’d find yourself vamping out to an evening wedding. Which, in my case, means lots of red, lots of vampy, cat-eye gel liner (in blue, for a softer, yet still fierce look), dark red matte lips and a curve-accentuating red peplum shift dress which hides muffin top from a huge Italian dinner(actual dress I wore from ChicShop.ca HERE) paired with lace tights and patent leather oxford pumps. Since Detroit is still down to freezing temps this early “spring”, I cover up with a faux fur jacket (similar, but not exactly–see the one I wore HERE by Deep in Vogue). Top the outfit out with a few cute details mixed in with diva bling, and you’ve got a fun ensemble to dazzle when you’re amidst the glory of the city’s best jazz piano legend playing the country’s most beloved classical/jazz fusion composer.

I would’ve had photos to post of the outfit myself, but I didn’t bring my camera, and Husby and I were so sick (stomach bug) that, by the time we got home, we were in absolutely no mood (or shape!) to take photos. The show was absolutely superb, though! (Aside from getting dirty stares from 3 *very* old Caucasian couples–my BFF Mandy thinks I’m majorly paranoid, and sometimes I am, but this time I literally caught 2 old men giving me the most scathing looks, while an old woman stared at me through glaring eyes for about 30 seconds, none of which would look away when I caught their confrontational gazes with a wide-eyed counter gaze. What is it with old people nowadays, with their rude gawking? It’s really offensive.)

{What would YOU wear to the Opera Theatre? How would you style it?}

PS. Let’s please not forget to pray/send vibes to the lost souls, missing, wounded or homeless victims of the devastating earthquake that rocked Honshu Island in Japan. Click here to see heart-breaking images of before and after the destruction by Google Earth and ABC News.

Remember, you can donate $10 to the RedCross by texting “redcross” to 90999. It will be on your next cell bill. (Standard text messaging rates apply.)

{ Digital Stylin’ ish } Golden and Gilded Spring Wedding

N and my friends L and A are getting married in Decatur, GA next month, and this is roughly what I would like to wear. I am styling the all-black outfit around the maxi skirt, being that the two clothing pieces are minimal, I am adding dimension and dynamics to the outfit by adding bling with gold accessories, a leopard print purse and strappy funky platforms.

I queried briefly on Twitter as to whether a sheer maxi skirt would be appropriate to an evening wedding, but if I wear mini dresses and shorter dresses to a wedding (which I do and have), why wouldn’t a sheer maxi with a solid skirt underneath not function the same way? It totally does.

I’m bringing a couple of other dresses just in case.

And hopefully I get to see the girls from AsianCajuns as well during this trip, with Miss Lar having just got married herself by the time I arrive in town! Yeay!

What do you think? Would you wear this to a wedding? How should I change this or make it better?
