Curious about The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask lip treatment? Wonder whether it’s as great as everyone says it is? Well, let me tell you what I thought about it after I tried it out for a few days.
The Tasty Truth About Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask
The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask is a rich, thick balm-like “mask” designed to treat, soothe, and heal dry, cracked and chapped lips. Containing organic ingredients rich in nutrients, the lip mask is one of the heroes of Bite Beauty’s product line up. The key ingredient is the super power resveratrol; the key fundamental ingredient in all of Bite’s lip products, and a powerful antioxidant that fights the signs of aging.
The Bite Beauty agave lip mask also is made up of organic vanilla extract and agave, which purportedly heal and soothe, and organic rosehip seed and olive fruit oils, potent hydrators and anti-agers. Credit the agave and vanilla for giving the lip mask its super sweet, sugary taste. It’s like having candy on your lips that also heals. The other main ingredient in the lip mask is lanolin, a super power emollient, which also helps to seal in moisture. The thick formula is idea for healing the lips overnight. Most people who try Bite Beauty’s agave lip mask will love it. In fact, it’s a holy grail lip treatment for a lot of the beauty community, or those who’ve jumped on the Bite bandwagon.

For me, the agave lip mask was a fail for me. And the lanolin, which is the main item that heals cracked lips for 90% of the population was where the problem lay for me.
I tried the treatment two nights in a row, hoping to wake up with softer, more hydrated lips, but instead I woke up with lips cracking and sore, riddled with irritated bumps. I looked up my symptoms and it appeared I had dermatitis on my lips. WTF? Turns out that some people may actually be allergic to lanolin, the oil produced by sheep’s skin, and an ingredient often found in moisturizing body and skin care products. The more I tried the lip mask, the more irritated my lips got.
In the end, I had to discontinue using the lip mask and return it to Sephora and get my hefty $26 back.
Like me, most people will not know they’re allergic to lanolin until they try a product with it and get a reaction. Reactions to this ingredient are rare. So overall, the lip mask will probably work like a charm for most people.
