Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm + Stains Review
July 19, 2013

Aloha, Lovecat,

Have you jumped on the lip stain/lip tint, trend yet? If you’ve heard of them and are curious, but just aren’t ready to splash out $16-$24USD for the most popular and Holy Grail lip stain pencils, then this review might offer a different, more affordable lip stain pencil option for you. Keep reading to find out more about Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain.

{ 4 Colors, tested and vetted.** }

Lip stain pencils are long lasting, highly pigmented tinted lipbalms in plastic retractable plastic “pencil” sticks, with the most popular being the ever tried and true Clinique Chubby Stick or Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Tint). From Sephora with the Clinique and Tarte versions, to more affordable options at the drugstore, tinted lip balm stains are flooding the beauty industry and are more popular than ever.

Okay, so… as I stated above, the most popular lip stain or tint options are priced between $16 (Clinique) to $24 (Tarte’s). But if you think that’s a little too pricey for something you haven’t tried yet, or are curious to try the lip stains, but don’t want to splash out that kind of cash, try one of the drugstore options. Covergirl, Neutrogena and Revlon all have some delicious-looking options under $10USD. I love Revlon, because the brand does not test on animals. So that is my pick!

I bought two of them to try out last year and loved them so much I went back and bought 2 more colors. I grabbed a coral shade called Rendezvous, bright pink called Lovesick, wine raspberry color called Crush, and a subtle red called Adore. ** I mislabeled the wine color in the first photo as “Smitten”, and it is really “Crush.”

{ Rendezvous, a gorgeous neon coral shade. }

{ Adore, a subtle but wearable red color for day. }

It goes on like a super pigmented balm. It looks like a satin finish lipstick that feels like a lip balm that eventually leads to a stain when the emollient/moisturizing properties wear off. It practically stays on forever.

The Revlon stains are not the most moisturizing, unlike their predecessors by Clinique and Tarte. They start out with a silky hydration, which eventually fades to just the stain itself. So, after a few hours, it can get slightly dry, but not to the point where your lips feel grossly dry, cracked or dehydrated. You can reapply or just put a clear balm on top to make it hydrating once it’s worn off.

But the stain stays forever. I went to bed once, thinking I’d removed most of it when I washed my face and did that whole long skincare routine thing… then I woke up the next morning, and the color was still pretty strong on my lips. Pretty amazing. It does exactly what the product says it will do: stain!

{ I love Adore’s subtle red so much I carry it in my purse all the time as a daily “just in case” option. }

These are great summer purse staples, especially for girls who hate touching up during the day. Just remember to carry another balm or either force yourself to reapply, and your lips will look and feel amazing.

VERDICT:
HIT!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stains retail for $7-8USD at US Drugstores and at many online retailers wherever Revlon products are sold.
