Review: Snug Camisoles

Ever need a good slip or undergarment but end up going without one because it shows through your outfit? Snug Camisoles might be the answer to your problem.

Product Review: Snug Camisoles Bra Friendly Tank Slip

Aloha!

I have been dawdling and putting off doing this review for a couple months now because I reveal things about myself I don’t often feel comfortable showing to the public: My muffin top and side rolls. We all have things we’re insecure about. Despite being petite, and despite appearing slim, fit or whatever in my photos, I have the Post-Twenties Stomach Pouch and side rolls. I exercise a bit and I eat right (mostly vegan/vegetarian), but let’s face it, I sit at my desk all day for work, and I’m way too lazy to get my ass to the gym every night. So, yeah, I have Muffin Top. I hide it in most of my photos with the way I dress, but lately I’ve been too embarrassed to go to the beach in my bathing suit. I even bought a long-sleeved UV top for swimming (and kayaking and hiking) and I wear it to the beach and gym, too embarrassed by my flaws to show some skin.

:sigh:

I can’t believe I just unleashed all that insecurity on you guys!

But yeah. Slip review time! Bring on the rolls and muffin tops!

A slip is one of the most essential undergarments a woman can own. This is an old fashioned style rule to keep.

One of the most important things for looking put-together and chic in your clothes are proper undergarments. They smooth down visible panty lines (AKA “VPL”) and bra lines and help clothes sit better on your body.

Slips seem so old fashioned or even out of fashion these days, but this is one fashion rule my mum taught me which I still swear by. They keep skirts from clinging to my legs when I wear tights, they help skirts and dresses fall better.

SNUG Camisoles does three types of slips, a camisole style, tube and a tank dress style. They’re made out of seamless Lycra material that molds to your body and doesn’t ride or slip. When I read this, I was pretty incredulous. I haven’t had a body-hugging dress that DIDN’T RIDE.

The SNUG Tank Slip is a perfect layering piece. … Do you feel scandalized yet?

Since I got the Bra Friendly Tank Slip in June, I’ve worn it about 9 times. As SNUG said, it does not ride up. It does mold to my body (which is why I didn’t want to post pictures of myself in it). It is very comfortable, and works well under all my pieces, sheer and opaque. When I wore it with tights, it didn’t catch like static the way lots of materials do against nylon tights. And when I wore it with tighter dresses, it hid my bra and panty lines perfectly. Sometimes I love it so much, I just wear it as a skirt under a button down shirt and go out for the day.

Here’s what SNUG says the Bra Friendly Tank Slip is supposed to do:

  • Reinforces your belly
  • Molds to your body
  • Hides your bra line
  • Super comfy
  • Perfect for layering and transparent tops
  • Hides your “muffin-top” line
  • Hides protruding belly buttons
  • GREAT for expecting mothers

It checks off all the marks for me, except for the last two. However, since all the pieces are made out of a nice breathable, stretchy fabric in one size fits all, I would assume the slip will work just fine for me when we finally decide to add to the world’s growing population problem. Heh.

The only downside: Too roomy in the straps. (Yes, I’m sucking in my gut. *insecure*)

The only gripe I have with it are the straps on the tank portion. They might be made for someone with a longer torso, because the straps have a lot of room and pucker a bit, requiring me to pull the hem of the slip down so the straps sit tight and flush against my shoulders.

Other than that, I love everything about it and would recommend it to any one as an essential undergarment.

OOTD: BLUE LEGS, Asymmetrical tunic and a Snug Slip. Hiding my muffin top.

This is how I wore the slip (as a layering dress), but you can see a full outfit post this weekend. As you can see, the shape of my bra is completely hidden and my underlayer is seamless under the tunic.

Mahalo! Have a bliss-filled weekend.

Me ke aloha ~ With love, Xx
