Be strong. Band together. Put on Purple and talk about it. Lupus Awareness.
{ Architecture of an Outfit } National Put on Purple Day – Lupus Awareness + Fashion = Dialog
Aloha kahiaka kakou ~ Good morning, all!
Last month was Lupus Awareness Month. In the interest of keeping this website light-hearted, cheerful and positive, I don’t really write too much or in great detail about my life with lupus, or what lupus can look like. Yeah, so thereafterish.com is not all about doom and gloom, nor about making people feel sympathy or pity for my situation.
But let me tell you. Lupus can be a total raging bitch, and she hits you where it hurts the most, or stabs you in the back–if you get my drift.

May 18th was Put on Purple Day to raise lupus awareness. Learn more about lupus: www.lupus.org.
Put on Purple Day called for lupus survivors, their families, friends and supporters to don the lupus color purple to get some conversations started, and teach people more about this life-changing disease.
In honor of the day, I wore my favorite purple piece in my wardrobe, my Emami Peculiar Piece dress. A convertible dress, it can be worn 12-16 different ways, even as a poncho, a pair of pants, a maxi dress, you name it! It’s also got a tight weave in the organic fabric, so it provides exceptionally stylish sun protection as well (something for the lupus, arthritis, fibro, melanoma survivors, and everyone in between to pay attention to!). Um, so basically, it’s perfection in a dress.
Here’s how I wore it:
