AOAO: Hawaiian Style Micro Mini Stripes

A gorgeous east O’ahu town with an epic marina. A striped minidress. A cute, wind-blown Wheaten Terrier Bear… It’s a portrait of…

Stripes are my life. But you already know that.

Hawaii Kai‘s Marina is also a turquoise lagoon. A bit murky, but still azure just the same. If we ever had to leave the Windward Side (East Shore, where we live) and go over the Ko’olaus, I’d entertain the idea of living in Hawaii Kai. It’s still far away enough from town and tourists to be livable. Except for the rent prices.

Max-Bear seems to like it there.

This mini dress is unique (even though I got it at Forever21) because of the puff sleeves. And the short length is perfect for Hawaii’s warm weather, esp if we’re going into town, because town (Honolulu) is always hotter than Waiahole side where we live. Now that I’m losing my muffin top, I’m finally confident enough to wear this body hugging thing again.

I love being 40 min away from Honolulu, near the beach and surrounded by lush, rain forest-y valleys and farms. At heart, I’m a county girl trapped in a Townie’s body, with a Townie’s wardrobe. :)

If you were me, would you rather live over the mountains, or near the city?

Honi, me ke aloha ~ XO, with love,
Mae Lu

  3. Super cute. I loves me some stripes, too. I think I’d like to live closer to the city, but certainly nothing wrong with the mountains when it’s that gorgeous. :)

  4. Gorgeous place, gorgeous photos and gorgeous dress, Mae! It all looks so dreamy! I’m finally getting around to catching-up on my blog reading after the holidays- can’t wait to see all your adventure has brought and continues to bring!

  5. I’d choose the city in a heartbeat! But that’s what I love about Oahu living.. the “city” is never really too far from the mountains/country side. ;) I love east Oahu. That’s the side my sissy lives.. but before Hawaii Kai. She lives in Palolo… deep in the valley… where you can hear the stream! It’s so lush. I love staying with her when we visit.

Looking so chic in paradise, Mae! Luuuurves it. And I adore how you are embracing all things Hawaii.. even the language. :D

    xx Love & Aloha

  6. You look lovely and yes perfect for the weather. I’m longing for bare-leg days! Which btw aren’t far away; I’m going to be visiting Hawaii in Feb. It’s a family trip, so I’m not sure I’ll have free-time or car access to meet up with you, but I’ll try to keep you posted! :)

Let's get talkin'.
