That’s the new term I’m calling it. I plan on making this new, weird phase in my life as fun, interesting and productive as possible.
You get laid off, but that doesn’t mean you have to lay down and give up.
This morning, though, I wanted to just keep it simple. Having some sort of a weird neck knot from a slight lupus attack, I decided sleeping in wasn’t too ridiculous.
“Stay with me, I’m warm. Stay with me, let’s cuddle,” my bed called to me this morning. He was warm. He was comforting. My pillow reached out and hugged my painful neck, cradling it softly.
I stayed in until 11. On a “school day”.
I haven’t been unemployed in over 7 years. Not since that debilitating accident that injured my spine in 2004. This is a really, really weird feeling. So I’m going to wake up, put on nice clothes, makeup, and keep my days simple. I’m going to learn how to make the best of this situation.

I know exactly how you feel. Perhaps it was meant to be. You’ll be making huge changes soon and maybe the last thing you needed to worry about was the job.
you are so positive Mae and it’s inspiring
Sorry to hear about your situation.. you’ll be Hawaii before you know it! Sleeping in is never a bad idea! I look forward to your odango video!
i could deal with some ‘funemployment’! enjoy it while it lasts!
Hey Mae, are you OK? I admire your positive attitude towards your current situation but if you need anything, you know my email and twitter!
*HUGS*
Mae! I’m so sorry to hear about your job and your small lupus attack! But what an inspiring response to the situation! I’m working part-time from home now in Edinburgh and it feels strange. I’ve been rolling out of bed and starting work in my pjs and feeling all grumpy. I’m going to take a note from your book and start getting it together more.
Maybe this is things just opening up for your big move!!!
xoxo,
Lar
100 percent jealous of your funployment and i’m glad you’ve decided to enjoy it
That’s not a bad idea. It usually takes awhile to get the job we want in this economy. Just spend a little time each day applying/following up…and don’t waste your precious time stressing on the employer’s end, which you cannot control! This is the perfect time for a little introspection, too. Even if you think you completely know who you are and what you want, there’s always room for growth ^_^
XO enjoy yourself and keep us posted
Mae,
Anna
Wow, first of all I didn’t realize you had a debilitating injury before. And I hadn’t heard you were going through unemployment.
So inspired by your outlook and continuing to get dressed and make the most of your days. Keep your head high, and great things will be around the bend for you my friend!
