{Architecture of an Outfit}

{Hooping} Using a circular hoop once equated as a children’s toy, a low impact exercise for the core (abs, back, pelvis) that not only strengthens but also helps relieve backpain while firming and toning the muscles of the upper and lower legs, glutes and abs. In other words: fitness win for lupus survivors like myself.

{Nerd} Self-defined and self-titled or inflicted with the title by others who deem themselves superior. One who wears large glasses. One who enjoys video games, animé, manga, fantasy literature, Sci-Fi, the SY-FY channel, the entire Joss Whedon oeuvre, Harry Potter and the like. One who owns not one, but several Apple devices and decries the instability and stupidity of Windows-operated machines. One who happens to be Asian. One who would rather stay home on a Saturday night watching Game of Thrones.

Put the two together?

{Hoop} + {Nerd} = Hoop.Nerd

I made the hoop out of a $5 barf-tastic, glittery neon pink and green children’s hoop from Meijer and a $3 roll of black and white zebra print Duck Tape brand duct tape. The 2/3 roll of tape on the hoop gave it a significant amount more weight, which actually makes the hoop easier to rotate around my waist, making it an effective, tiring work out. I videoed myself hooping. Vlog tomorrow.

PS. I have to credit Hooping genius GingerMandy for my love of Hooping. If it weren’t for her sassy goading (“Just pick up the hoop and do it, goddamit!”), I wouldn’t have fallen in love with this low-impact sport or animal print hoops. So thanks, GingerBetty! You’re Da Bes!
