I couldn’t decide what to write about, and I ended up putting my thoughts for today’s article pretty much all up there in the title.
As we speak, all the yummy food we ate in the South gave me a bad case of Gastritis (acid reflux, sort of, but causes pain in the abdomen that won’t fart or belch out–trust me, I tried), and I’m been doped up on meds and flat out on my back in bed, praying the pulsating pain and chest tightness doesn’t come back. I only left the house to go to Urgent Care to find out what the heck this radiating, undulating pain in my chest has been. I kind of wish it had been adult asthma instead of Gastritis. How embarrassing. It’s basically a big, burning ball of gas hurting my esophagus. How sexy is that?
{Answer there: not at all.}
Anyway, you already saw what I look like super drunk and dancing at a wedding, but you didn’t get a good shot of the outfit… so here it is.
Details of the Arm Candy Bling

All of the arm candy I wore to the wedding were things that were either won through blog giveaways, or were gifted to me. #Truestory.
The bejeweled CZ antique style bracelet on my left arm was one of my wedding bracelets, gifted to me by my mother in law. The gold hammered filigree cuff is from Wendy Mink Jewelry that I wear pretty much on a daily, and which I won through a giveaway hosted by Sharon of Elisharon. The two adjustable gold bangles are repurposed and eco-stylin’ bangles by Alex and Ani, which I won through a giveaway from Charlie & Lee through my BFF Lily of Bleed for Fashion.
Don’t you just love free stuff?

I’m not entirely sure this outfit was 100% wedding appropriate–I’ve never gone virtually strapless at a wedding before, nor so low cut. At least the skirt is mostly sheer-ish, rather than straight up see through, so that my “mini/maxi” skirt was really just a maxi skirt. I’m also rethinking sequins. While the look is absolutely stunning, and visually interesting, it is actually really, really uncomfortable. It chafes the arms, and since it was a tunic length… it chafed my nether-yaya region as well. Very Void of Win. #NotWinning. More like #DUHLosing.
5″ stilettos and drunken dance floor debauchery equals one sore footed Mae Lu. My heels didn’t survive the car ride home, and I kicked them off the moment we got my feet onto something carpeted. I was trying to find late night pizza delivery on the phone by calling Dominos Pizza while N snapped Outfit of the Day shots of me. I was too lazy to put back on my shoes and put the phone down, for fear someone would answer while I was acting all vain and what nots.
There didn’t end up being any pizza places that delivered after 1AM. ZERO POINTS on LATE NIGHT FOOD, ATL. We went to Kroger instead and bought microwaveable vegetarian organic ramen (who knew!) and organic vegetarian tamales. Not exactly a win-win sitch, but a lot healthier than Dominos.
I still think the overall effect of the outfit was pretty effective, and much more alluring than some of the other wedding outfits I’ve worn (ie., single dresses) before, and i’m so very in love with the high waisted sheer overlay maxi skirt that I want to wear it every day with Parisian graphic Ts and nude high wedges. EVERYDAY.
{ Are you wearing any maxis this spring? What would you wear to a spring/summer wedding? Would you get anywhere near as drunk as I did?

Alcohol and 5 inch stilettos rarely end well, but it seems like this was nonetheless a fantastic night! I know everyone is sporting the maxi dress in this warm weather we’re having right now, but I am not a fan. =( It’s kind of feminine, but not really, casual but not really, it’s sort of at the intersection of everything, but not really. =P Really though, I’m just bitter that maxi dresses totally emphasize any tummy pudge one might have, and therefore not flattering unless one has a supertoned body.
love it, so perfect

Oh, that’s the sheer maxi skirt you mentioned before! I didn’t realize it was sheer-ish in the first post on the wedding. You look lovely, Your legs look so long here! Good thinking wearing it high-waisted. I always like to wear my skirts as high-waisted as I can get away with to give the illusion of long legs (which I don’t have, really)
Oh, I hope you’re feeling TONS better now. Gastritis definitely sounds like no fun at all. I think rubbing the tummy up and down helps soothe the pain. Or perhaps a heat patch?
Btw, I think Arissa Cheo is SO hot omg! In Singapore, they have a world which means really pretty and it’s “chio” (pronounced just like her surname) so it’s no wonder really. I’m going to name my daughter Princess Beautiful, Elegant and Kind-hearted wtf.
Tbh, I don’t really follow her or read her blog or tweets, but I’ve heard of her because I read tons of Singaporean blogs (stalker-ish like that). And she went out with Vanness Wu for a while I think? He’s this Taiwanese/American pop star.
She’s a true socialite, but I don’t think I can keep up with her lifestyle. Still, she hangs out with some really gorgeous people so looking at photos of her is total eye-candy. What do you mean you’re in love with her? Like are you stalking her blog and stuff? Or do you actually have her wallpaper on your mobile kind of love? #creepy
Thanks for the reply on the camera. I actually purchased the LX5 2 weeks ago. Whoopee!! Hehe…Loving it so far

I love the look of maxi dresses and skirts but I haven’t fully taken the plunge yet. I just haven’t found the right casual dress/skirt. But you look lovely and it looks like you had a blast at the wedding! =)

Thanks, Annabelle! I would’ve preferred to wear all black, but I think the grey chiffon and black sequins turned out nicely.
I’ll have to give your blog a visit soon.
I’ve been thinking about trying a maxi dress or skirt, which I haven’t done in the past because I’m such a shorty. I need to go try and bunch on and then maybe I’ll give it a shot.
Well, you already know I’m a super small girl–smaller than you!–so wearing a maxi was a hard thing for me to finally give into, but I did it, and I love it. The trick is to buy a high-waisted one so it elongates your frame, and make sure it’s long, nearly to the ground, rocked with awesome heels. If you get one that ends at your ankles, you’ll look stumpi-fied.
Hope that helps!
<3
Gorgeous 1000x (as always!)
I love how different your outfit is from the “typical” wedding/party outfit.
I wish I could pull off maxi skirts and dresses like you (I’m dying to get a similar skirt like yours. But of course, AA charges a fortune for them!), but I have short legs so I would look short and stubby in anything maxi
I guess I should just stick to the tea-length skirts
Those GUESS sandals are hot!
They look like Sam Edelman’s!
I haven’t shopped at GUESS since…. high school? Hahahaha…
Thanks, KRIS!
I’m pretty stubby/stumpy myself. It’s because we’re both short. But high waisted with pleates or ruffles is the way to go, because it hides muffin top, AND it lengthens the frame! I swear. I never thought I’d do a maxi in a million years! I’m still afraid of a Maxi dress, though!
The guess look so much hotter, because I put in a in-sole with leopard print on it.
You totally pull off Maxi dresses! Do you think petite frames can pull off long skirts like that?? I think it would drown me *_* you look gorgeous there anyway
I’m small, you look so much taller than I am! I’m only 5’2.5″ (158.75 cm) tall! So I’m quite short. I was really leery of trying a maxi skirt… but I thought if I did high-waisted, that I would be alright. But high waisted with pleates or ruffles is the way to go, because it hides muffin top, AND it lengthens the frame! I swear. I never thought I’d do a maxi in a million years! I’m not sure if I’d wear a maxi dress, though. Those frighten me.
