That was unexpected!
Stories report that, after being bought by Billabong for an undisclosed amount, skate/surf brand RVCA has broken ties with model Erin Wasson. Speculations pin the separation on low sales of the Spring 2010 line and broad panning of the Fall 2010 collection. Quiksilver, Inc., which owns Billabong said in a statement that it was not interested in acquiring the Erin Wasson label due to direct competition with DC Shoes and Quiksilver Womens.
However, further reports from sources within RVCA state that RVCA ended the contract with Wasson and co. due to difficulties working with the label’s employees. Sources claim Wasson’s company was disorganized and chaotic.
Billabong will continue to focus furthering relationships with RVCA’s other collaborations like Fashion Toast’s Rumi Neely’s line. Ironically…
Funny thing is, Neely is essentially a Wasson knock-off, at least when it comes to personal style.
