Korea’s most popular songstress Lee Hyori is known for her hardcore dance moves and edgy costumes on stage and in music videos. It comes as no surprise that she once again displays her diva fashion in the latest issue of Marie Claire Korea.
Shot against a stark white background, the emphasis is on the different personae and attitude reflected by Lee’s many outfits. From playful in girlish frocks, to mature and sophisticated in a maxi dress and floppy hat, to urban downtown, to sultry starlet with a sexy crop top, the spread exemplifies Lee’s diverse and versatile style. No wonder the title of the feature is “Magnetic Diva”!
Personally speaking, I loved Lee Hyori when she was part of the K-Pop quartet Fin.K.L. back in the 90s and early 2000s. She easily set herself apart as the best dancer, even if her vocals were lurking somewhere in the mediocre skill range. Once the group went into indefinite hiatus, she defined herself as a entertainment powerhouse, releasing album after album, winsome single after single, dynamic video after dynamic video. Though she’s been criticized for having a less than stellar vocal range, she is Korea’s number one popstar and one of the nation’s most recognizable names and faces.
I still play some of her tunes on my iPhone and watch her videos from time to time.
Thanks, All K-POP!
